According to JumpFesta, 30 minutes of the Dragonball movie will be shown in Japan.

A prescreening of Dragonball live action movie open to the public will hit JUMP FESTA 2009 (Makuhari, Chiba, Japan) on Dec 20, 2008, the very first day of the 2-day famous Japanese ACG exhibition. With running time of 30 minutes, from 13:20 to 13:50, it’ll be an excerpt with especially selected scenes from the movie which is to be released on March 13, 2009 in Japan.

Another significance of this activity isn’t the said presence of anonymous famous star(s), but the preselling of Be@rbrick of Dragonball, in live action Goku’s orange gi, as a special edition produced by Medicom Toy Corporation. As announced, the person who later wins the reserved seat of this prescreening can have one such Bearbrick as a gift. Anyone who later loses the reserved seats can still buy the entrance ticket at the booth on the festa to have the Be@rbrick attached to the ticket.

A photo has leaked online showing a brand new Dragonball movie poster that was seen in Japan. it translates “Sun Shopping Mall Dragonball Campaign”. The poster shows promotion of not only the movie, but several merchadise items such as DB movie hats, shirts and other various items. Hopefully this is a sign of a lot of upcoming promotion fairly soon. Especially seeing how the movie releases 4 months from now in Japan (and 5 months worldwide).

Update :  This is from Licensing Asia 2008 in Tokyo that is promoting merchandise that can be won through the contests.

Its finally here! The full blown Dragonball teaser trailers. Yes trailers, there are two versions. They are the first official HD trailers with sound. View both versions the trailer in all its glory below. The longer version shows new shots of Piccolo (yes and he is green!) and plenty of ki blasts! It has been confirmed that a video adaptation of the upcoming Dragonball film is in the works. No actual details have surfaced yet, but we did get this quote from Playthings confirming it from 20th Century FOX.

HOLLYWOOD, Calif.—Twentieth Century Fox has appointed Gary Rosenfeld to the position of Senior Vice President of New Media Licensing, a role with oversight of the studio’s portfolio of video game projects and management responsibility for Twentieth Century Fox Licensing & Merchandising’s (Fox L&M) games development staff.

Rosenfeld will explore opportunities in the growing PC online game space and investigate new business models and partnerships in the console publishing area. A handful of Fox properties will make it to the top of his list as he begins this new endeavor, starting with the studio’s major upcoming film releases and television brands, including Avatar, Night at the Museum - The Battle Of The Smithsonian, Ice Age 3, Dragonball, The Simpsons and Family Guy.

Also, Brian Tyler (DB movie score composer) has mentioned more about his work on the Dragonball film.

“I’m a Dragonball, you know, fan… [and] I agreed to take it before they shot it… So, I have this kind of habit of, when I’m a fan of something, I end up taking it before they even shoot it. And I called up to the, you know, director and said ‘Hey man, I think we can really make this, you know, epic…” in the world; the angle of Dragonball being a different world, that it’s kind of a parallel universe of what we are, but, it has a whole mythic, legendary aspect to it, like, ‘this has been going on for thousands of years’ kind of thing, so that’s the vibe of this score. Which we’re doing right now.”

 Edward French (the make up designer for Piccolo) has posted up a sneak peak at Piccolo. He says he can’t reveal Piccolo’s face yet due to FOX (which you can see via our gallery). Here’s the full details from the scan.
