Dragon Ball GT

An original TV series produced by Toei Animation that premiered on Fuji TV on February 2nd, 1996, and ran until November 19th 1997 (in its country of origin; Japan). Dragonball GT was not created by Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama or based on any manga. Dragonball GT is a 64-episode follow-up series to Dragonball Z that, although a sequel to one of the most beloved animes of all time, is hated by many fans due to its poor writing and repetitiveness.

DVDs
The complete Dragonball GT series is available to buy in stores right now as part of FUNimation’s “remastered” season box sets. Because the series is so short, it only spans two season box’s (shown below). Unlike the Dragonball Z season box sets by FUNimation, Dragonball GT is only presented in its originally intended 4:3 video aspect ratio instead of the faux-widescreen ratio displayed on the DBZ season sets. Fans speculate that FUNimation was responding to fan backlash over the DBZ sets in doing this.

Television Special
Dragonball GT had no theatrical movies based on it like Dragonball and DBZ did, but it did have one special feature that aired only on TV. It has since been released on DVD in Japan and North America.
