Dragonball Evolution Sequel Confirmed?
June 6, 2009 in Dragonball Evolution, Dragonball Reborn News, Interviews, Movie News by avenged
That’s right! Well according to James Marsters that is.
In a recent interview with James (Lord Piccolo), he mentions towards the end that he can actually tell that there is going to be a sequel. Here’s the portion of the interview where he mentions the sequel. (Note that this interview was published in the June edition of a German magazine entitled “Nautilus“, so yes it is new.)
In Spring and Summer, I’m on tour in Europe. Check for dates and ticket on www.jamesmarsters.com. And then we’ll start shooting the second Dragonball movie. (grins) I’ve just heard that I can actually tell that there is going to be a sequel.
So, according to James…the sequel to Dragonball Evolution (Dragonball Reborn “pending title”) will begin filming sometime after Summer of this year. Hopefully we will get more info on this. A single actor confirming the sequel is not enough for me just yet.

UPDATE – According to his official site, James Marsters just got back from touring in Europe. This could mean filming for the sequel to Dragonball Evolution will begin shortly. Let’s just hope we hear some actual confirmation on this very soon. But when that first piece of sequel media hits, you’ll find it here.
And as a reminder, James Marsters will yet again be attending Dragon Con this year. It starts September 4th.

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
At least tell me they’ve replaced James Wong!!! O_o

Ow jeah, they already ruined the DB saga, second movie will probebly be about sayan saga (DONT RUIN IT TOO!!!!!),
and the third movie will I guess be about namek saga (SUPER SAIYAN) that is what they want…. they dont give a damn about the movie and story. I bet they said, just make a SUPER SAIYAN in the third one and its gonna be OK. No matter how are the effects gonna look like and the story be, just take it to theaters so that DB fans will watch….
I SWEAR I WILL HATE FOX FOREVER IF THEY RUIN THE SECOND MOVIE TOO!!!!!!!

The movie was actually pretty good if you sit there and watch it in stead of saying that it’s going to suck before the previews start. It was just too short, slightly cheezy, and with a bad final fight, that’s all. And it seems to me that DBR (pending title) will start pre-production this year! Look at this:http://jamesmarsters.com/ The entry that says Message from James.

Message from James
Hey everybody, back in the States after a great European tour. Always good to see familiar faces and welcome to all the new ones. I’m learning that the best part of this is everyone getting to know one another and becoming an international family. Thank you to everyone who could make the trip. I think I didn’t suck and gave some pretty good concerts.
Till next time – James.

I commented on both those pieces of news. This only makes it more likely. We’re getting a sequel. Dragonball Evolution was a good start, but hopefully Dragonball Z (which is what I’m calling it for now) will have the no adventure, all fighting story that DBZ’s anime had.

FOX. What a bunch of morons. If James Wong or, highly doubt it, Ben Ramsey have their names attached to this in any way. Count me out.

After watching his movies, I say put Stephen Chow in charge of everything. The whole dang movie(s). He’s nailed all aspects of DBZ in all of his movies and he should just fuse them all together to make the ultimate SSJ DBZ Movie!!

The above two comments pretty much sum up my feelings on this movie as well. Evolution suffered from a terribly written script and horrible direction. The movie was doomed regardless of what else was done to salvage it. You can keep the same actors but get a better writer and have Chow handle the rest. Unfortunately, after what I heard they did to him in regards to Evolution, I dont see Chow working on it.

@ TehDrizzit – He was giving input to the film and suggesting to be more original to the manga (having Krillin, more fighting, etc) and James Wong basically shut him down. Atleast that’s what was rumored.

They made Evolution really BAD. Goku to me ist strong at all, I dont know how will he beat Raditz in the begining of the seaqual. Piccolo can do it but Goku didnt TRAIN nothing in Evolution. Thats what bothers me the most, they could have given him some HAVEY CLOTHES at least like in the ANIME, but insted he gets teached how to use kamehameha by CHI CHI WTF?!!!
They should have RE-MADE the 1st movie if you ask me. I really dont know how can they make a good seaqual out of these.
FOX DONT MAKE DRAGONBALL MOVIES FOR KIDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THERE ARE MORE MIDDLEAGED PEOPLE WHO WOULD WATCH THE MOVIE 10X IN THEATER IF THE MOVIE IS GOOD.
AND TAKE YOUR TIME FOR THE STORY. EVOLUTION STORY IS LIKE A 10 YEAR OLD MONKEY WATCHED THE DB SAGA AND WROTE IT!!!!
USE THE DB (Z) MATERIAL!!!!!!!!!
WHY DONESNT AKIRA TORYAMA MAKE A STORY FOR THE MOVIE?!!! YOU CAN DELETE SOME SCEENS IF YOU THINK THAT ARE NOT APOPRIATE FOR THE MOVIE.

What future for the character of Yamcha?
James Wong has a lot of work. The director of the first album have a nice 50M € for a new movie, thanks to the box office for Dragon Ball Evolution, but nothing is easy. Even more so than the first, where fans were able to go and wait indulgent work done by the team of director James Wong and producer Stephen Chow. Everyone wants to know today what will be done, as on the means at hand or the players, this new film. And all this started there were just over 1 week. James Marsters said in an interview that the shooting will begin in September 2010, if not earlier. And then, after his statements, while the media went to the fishing news. From there, the first information began to circulate. 2 days ago on the South American newspaper El Siglo reported that, in addition to May and students who are not present, would also Yamcha of the wide wash of the Twentieth Century Fox.
It is a certainty: Eriko Tamura (Mai) and the students do not sign for a second volume. But one of the biggest uncertainty concerns the role of Yamcha, played by Joon Park. According to our correspondent, this information is false. Attached to us by phone, Joon Park is said be “surprised” by his “lies” and its “unverified”, we said Joon Park. However, it has, contrary to James Marsters received no green light from the production company and is amazed at the statements Marsters. Reportedly, 4 actors, at least, will appear in this film …

On dbthemovie site is a comment that said some news in franch, dont know where is the source. but I translated it… again
Actor tough, with the expéricience in the trade, to play in a big Hollywood film. ” That could be early announcement by the director James Wong and scoiété production directs the film, Twentieth Century Fox. It is now a virtual certainty: the film live manga cult of Akira Toriyama, Dragon Ball Evolution, will undergo a second adjustment. While James Marsters announced last week that would emerge later in 2010, today the South American newspaper El Siglo, said in its issue of the day as a result of the film by James Wong should undergo some changes. “Changes” as the newspaper announcement, expected as early as August. While the shooting will start in September …
According to the same source, Eriko Tamura (Mai) and Joon Park (Yamcha) and students will not be renewed in this second opus. Thus, management is currently seeking a person of great size with a big build (Ten Shin Han?) And three other medium-sized with fairly long hair, the newspaper informs us. Research has already begun but no name has yet been mentioned in the premises of FOX.
According to a close the file contacted by us, one of the employees working on the project, we said this. “I know that many fans are against this new direction. I respect that, but know that any team is to build on this project. This has always been a major concern of James Wong to make a trilogy, it’s just that we never thought that FOX would give us this opportunity. However, I can not tell you anything more, we expect to confirm this result. “We said one of the employees of FOX.

First of all they can’t do a reboot because Justin Chatwin signed on for three movies meaning if they do do a sequel he will still be goku and if it was a reboot they would be in breach of his contract since when reboots do accure they usually have a new cast to play the parts now that being said I thought that it was a pretty good movie with a rating of 8/10 only because it should have been I’d say about 3 hours long and the final fight between Piccolo and Goku should have been about 30 min long and the cast I thought was pretty good Justin Chatwin did a great job playing Goku especially the party seen where he defeated the high school jocks without throwing a punch and making it comical like the goku from the anime series would have done and James Marsters did an excellent job as Lord Piccolo and do think the sequel will still be in the dragonball series mainly because they have not introduced Krillin or shown Lord Piccolo splitting into Piccolo Jr and Kame so that I think will be what the next movie is about

Wow some people actually liked it? I must have seen a totally different movie.
The movie I saw had so many holes in it I saw into the next theater. The movie in there was better BTW.
The acting was second rate at best.
The cheese pours so freely I was tempted to buy some nachos to make use of it.
Seriously Goku with performance anxiety? Goku trying to go out ona date with ChiChi? The best part of thier relationship was the non traditional (Especially in the country it came from) of the Girl going after the guy. Goku represents innocents and purity. Not raging teenage hormones and awkwardness.
Goku was always an oddball but not because he was getting hair in funny place but because he was so easy going and tell it like it is.
They really need to just cut their loses and sell the franchise to somebody who can do it right. I don’t mean scene for scene like the Anime. Just right.

They lost more money than the recieved in the release of this film.
I’d appreciate a remake rather than a sequal. They did a horrible job in sticking to the original plot.
Movies that stick to their origins, like Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, etc., are the successful ones.
If they think about this and actually make DragonBall what it’s supposed to be, they’ll have a hit movie.
