DBE is the failure movie of the Century. I hope this Dragon Ball Reboot is true. To 20th Century Fox, I hope that you learned your lesson. NEVER Westernize Dragon Ball. Dragon Ball is an Asian inspired Story so basically you should hire Asian Actors to play the roles(Saiya-Jin).

There are so many Asian Actors like Daniel Henney, Jon Foo, Edison Chen, Donnie Yen & Tony Jaa to play as Son Goku & the other Saiya-Jin’s.

I loved DBE, too, but I’d love to see a more fan-friendly version, too! Hopefully the execs at Fox will take this more seriously.

Hopefully Fox realizes they have a gold mine when it comes to this franshise if they do it the right way. I’m all for a reboot with a new director. I honestly didn’t have any problems with the actors so if they keep them I won’t be upset. I think they simply suffered from the bad directing of Wong and the craptastic script. I will continute to wait for some more official confirmation regarding the future of this franchise. Lets hope they learned from their mistakes and make a movie worthwhile of the Dragonball name.

Really hope the news are REAL, I lived to see a LIVE DB MOVIE, we all did and they didnt took it seriously. Now they have a chance to make it right.
FOX, Dragonball movie can be more bloody than evolution alot more, and not made for 3 year old kids. The first movie should be about Goku and Krillin TRAINING (by ROSHY) through whole movie (they can have HAVEY clothes like in the anime), and not like in the EVOLUTION… Where Goku trains, how to punch an orange out of Roshys hand…. Thay can be teenagers, but they have to train that is what makes movies GOOD.
If you changed DB to DBE, you can make Goku and Krillin fight Piccolo TOGETHER, and than Goku beats him cause he defets Krillin. Goku should be teached Kamehameha by ROSHY (not by a BEATCHY Chi-Chi) and make it in his first try. Its what makes Goku, Goku. And kamehameha should be made on the beach, It can seperate sea (again like in the anime).
Goku doesnt know what LOVE is, he lives for fighting and he is always happy and not some GEEK. Chi-Chi should be in love in him and not Goku in her.
I know I wrote this for nothing, but anywas I took my time to say that you should make a REBOOT of DB, and I hope this time you dont rush and make a CREAPY movie that looks like its FAKE.

What I think would be the best action for the reboot is to not worry too much about looking too much like Speed Racer. That was the biggest downfall of DBE, as much as I loved the movie. They shouldn’t worry so much about looking to cartoony, because that’s what Dragonball is. Don’t worry about making the characters overpowered, and make them train a lot more and a lot harder. Give Bulma blue hair. Make Goku start off as a 14 year old, like he was in the manga. Make Roshi carry a damn turtle shell. The biggest thing about Dragonball is the look of it and the fighting. If DBE had better, more engaging fight scenes, and looked a bit more like Dragonball, than people would’ve just skipped right over the script. Justin Chatwin was worried too much about the look of Goku’s hair, and who wouldn’t be! He didn’t want it to look to goofy, and I respect that, but let’s face it, the closer to the source material, the better, in a lot of cases. This whole ridiculous debate over a white or Asian Goku is just that: Ridiculous. It’s just sad, is what it is. Goku never looked Asian or white in the manga to me. He looked like a hero. One or the other is fine by me. They need to pick someone for Goku that can really bring out the Goku in them.
And FOX really needs to promote this, better. Make some goddamn LEGO sets!!! That would get everyone’s attention! I swear, if FOX made Dragonball Evolution LEGO sets while the movie was coming out, it would’ve gotten so much more money! DragonballZ LEGO sets would be pretty badass, too. I’ve never met someone older than 16, which is how old I am, mind you, that has ever said that LEGOs suck. Even at my high school, everyone still loves Dragonball, so don’t even bother with a target audience. The only reason why people knew about it was because of me, and they loved the idea, but when they saw Goku, they thought that the producers didn’t focus enough on the look. Just listen to that, FOX. Make some promotional deals with FUNi, instead of Viz, because FUNi is more well-known, and waaaaaaaay better at dubbing, anyway. If FUNi releases DB movie stuff for it, the popularity of the movie will SKY-ROCKET! And make the movie more accessible to the general public, because BOTH the movie theaters in my hometown said that it wasn’t coming to their theaters. I had to go to fucking Reno, which is an hour drive away, just to watch it.
So there ya go, FOX. IF you really are paying attention to what fans are saying, but I highly doubt it, then focus on these things: The look, THE FIGHTING (and I really can’t stress that one enought), the Promotion, the script, the casting, the budget, how available it is to the general public, and the promotional partners. And stop worrying about it looking so damned cartoony. Just try your best to be accurate to the manga. Go Speed Racer if you have to, just STUDY THE HELL out of the source material. We’re WAITING FOR A TOTALLY EPIC DRAGONBALL MOVIE!!! WE’RE WAITING FOR GOKU TO REALLY JUMP OUT OF THE MANGA AND ONTO THE SCREEN! And I loved DBE, but I’m really happy to hear about this Reboot rumor, even if it is just a rumor. Justin Chatwin shined as Goku, but he could’ve been so much better! FOX!!! They did the same thing to Hulk.

Hulk wasn’t just a reboot. They kind of made it a semi-sequel. Not going with an origin story because everyone already knew it from the last movie.

Second HULK movie was AWESOME compared to the first one. Well I think what ever they make with DB REBOOT it will be 100% batter than EVOLUTION!

The Last Airbender is going so great because it actually has M. Night Shyamalan on board (AKA Its creator).

M. Night Shyamalan didn’t create the Last Airbender, but he is an extremely devoted fan, much like Marsters. I say, we let James Marsters co-write and produce the movie, and maybe we’ll get something done right, though god knows the execs at Fox aren’t smart enough to do that. Again, I loved DBE, but a reboot may be in the franchise’s best interest, after the failure that DBE failed at the box office.

The movie is cinda good if you never seen any DB(Z) cartoon, but if you have, you can see they have RUINED the DB UNIVERSE with it. And I dont mind the changes in the movie, you can change something to appear much batter. But they changed things in the movie that made it just worse!!! For example: Dragon is WAY TOO SHORT, Oozaru changes faces in every sceene and looks like he has came from the game that was made in 1998, Goku told bulma about the DRAGON BALLS she didnt know there are 7 of them and that they grand you a wish, There was no blod in it or ripped clothes like in anime, Goku didnt TRAIN NOTHING and this BOTHERS me the most!!! He couldnt beat grandpa Gohan but he could defeat Piccolo, that killed Gohan in a seccond. Goku didnt become any stronger with ROSHYS ”TRAINING” He trained more with Gohan!! and there are manny more things that BOTHERS ME ALLOT. I liked the cast but some of them acted TERRIBLE. I wouldnt mind if they changed some of the cast eaven Goku, Justin looks like Goku but didnt act nothing as him. I reather have the actor who has Gokus energie than someone who looks like him. Chow Yun Fat was AMAZING as ROSHY, and didnt look like him.

This movie doesn’t deserve a sequel. I reboot would be going in the right direction. This movie failed to show the world that Akira Toriyama created, it was rather the opposite. I really don’t want to see a 84 minute rushed movie again. By the way if some of you have not recognized a sequel at the moment is out of the question and why because it failed financially, critics have downed this movie as far as they possibly could and the general public hated it. I don’t know about you guys but i dont want to put my faith in fox and james wong to get another 84 mintute senseless movie that made absolutely no sence and poluted with plot holes.

As much as I’d love to see the actors get a second shot with a better director, bigger budget, and a well written script, I’m going to agree with Nelson18 and say they should wait a little and develope a better direction to take the franchise with a reboot. I’m going to disagree. If we are to get this sequel and continue in the direction that Evolution put us on, it would just give the impression that DB:E wasn’t “that bad” and the mistakes can be made up for. This is not the case and will never be the case as long as they try to build upon what was established in Evolution.

My final thoughts: Fox should let the film rights expire and hopefully a studio who realizes the potential of a properly done DB/DBZ film will come and scoop them up. I’ve waited 10+ years to see a live action DB film and after the sour taste left in my mouth from DB:E, I have no problem waiting another 10 to see one done right.

DBE was cliché and made no sence and poluted with plotholes. What makes you think that we would get a bigger budget and a 2 hour movie? Why would fox want to invest into a movie that failed miserably, financially and critically. This is fox studios not warner bros they dont give movies like this 2nd chances. They wont invest more money into something that failed this bad and a 2hour movie is probaly out of the question, fox didnt even make there beloved X-MEN 2hours and please don’t expext a 2 hour movie with james wong as director because that is not going to happen the max we would get is 100mins.I can see a direct to dvd sequel.

To be honest i WONT MIND a sequel just take james wong out and do less plot holes with a story that actually makes sence and have a longer runtime but i would still prefer a reboot over a sequel even if it takes years.

The only reason I’d like to see a sequel is to see the actors, especially Chatwin and Marsters, get another crack at portaying their respective characters. If they go with a reboot, most likely it will be recast. I just can’t see how a sequel would be any better than the first. If they are going to go by what they’ve established in Evolution, it will only continue to deviate from the source material.

I honestly don’t know how you came to the conclusion of a 9/10 for DB:E but I can respect everyones opinion. I think the movie had some good parts, mainly the first 1/3d of the movie in regards to humor. The best fight was Goku vs. Roshi and the final battle was very dissapointing. That being said, DB:E was nowhere near what a full-fledged DB/DBZ movie should be a its pretty apparent from its box office results and general consensus.

In my opinion they should give the rights to another movie company like sony or something. Hire big name producers and directors with a long and outstanding track record. Then find a great writer and not just anybody someone who knows what there doing and has a passion for it. Because DBE had to many loop holes and sometimes didnt make sense. Which got me wondering when they read the script how they didnt go “wheres the rest of it and when are you going to finish it?” or “did you lose some pages and how in the hell did all of this happen.” I mean like when they dont explain how piccilo got free or how goku is thousands of years old and is a teenager and that he must train with roshi but all he does is break some oranges. Also he dies by getting shot and roshi is thrown from the car and cant fly. Last when piccilo drops the bomb on the city it disapears in the clouds with no explosion and then they show a village totaly destroyed. With all that said I dont hate the movie it was entertaing at parts and showed the true DBZ in some scenes that got me excited like the kamema and the orange suit. It showed how great it could have been but fell far from. I hope they do remake it or at least do a complete overhaul of the second one. Like new producer, directoe, writer, some characters and graphical team.

OK first off Dragonball Evolution was OK. I give it 8/10. People expect the movie to be like the series. I think they just wanna see the same thing over and over and over again. I can’t picture Bulma with blue hair anyway. guess they wanna see the dinosours also huh? Wait wait lets have him floatin on a cloud and a talkin pig. lol GROW THE FUCK UP PEOPLE! If ya’ll make the movie I wouldn’t wanna see it. Cause I already saw it. People always wanna fuck up somethin we barely have. Let there be a sequel. But what I don’t get is how Piccolo control Goku. Does he control all saiyans? Was sup wit dat? Someone please answer that for me I just don’t have enough brain power to fingure that one out.

I’m going to ignore all other comments and say that Dragonball Evolution was SLIGHTLY enjoyable. I would love for them to make a reboot. I think that they need a COMPLETELY different cast. They could have cast someone better to be Goku, Chatwin just couldn’t correctly portray Goku’s up beat personality. Instead he portrayed a gloomy high school kid. I don’t even think that Goku went to school. Did he? They need someone old to play Master Roshi. Roshi is supposed to be REALLY old because he drank from the fountain of youth or sumthin’ and it didnt affect his appearence, just how long he can live. The thing that bugged me the most out of the whole movie was the kamehameha. I mean how could a kamehameha be a wind blast? Thats just f***ing stupid. Can you kill someone or draw blood from a saiyan with a f***ing wind blast?! I thought so. P.S. I am a DBZ fan. P.P.S. Sorry about the enormous comment.

Soooooo, for the few of you who say that this horrid piece of trash was in anyway GOOD, you make it very, very obvious that you are not even remotely a Dragon Ball or Dragon Ball Z fan. For those who say we (the real fans) should not expect it to be exactly the same as the manga or anime, shut the hell up. Isn’t that the whole purpose to making an anime to movie adaptation!? Not to rip a good manga or anime to bits, pretend that you were the one who created something that made millions of fans, and change it as if you were at all creative. By removing characters like Oolong, Kuririn (Krillin), and Puar because you wasn’t to be “realistic” destroys some of what makes the DB and DBZ universe. By doing so, you make crap that is not worth paying money. And no you stupid flamer ( MyOpinionOnDBE ), we don’t want to see the “same” stuff. if they had made the movie an episode in between the manga or after, but made it right, I’m pretty damn sure we would be happy as hell. AND WTF WAS UP WITH BULMA’S VOICE?

Look peeps. The bottom line in this case is that the movie was complete crap. You want proof, look at what the movie brought in. I’t just didn’t sell well. Hell, I couldn’t even sit through the whole thing when I saw the bootleg.

I am not saying I am a fan of Db E, but to say whoever is, is not a real Dragon Ball fan…that is just plain ignorant.

the only way they will ever make it perfect and amazing is to literally pull out the characters or even make the db world real..or if the dragon balls itself was real and made a wish to make the perfect db movie…but that will obviously NEVER happen..thats the only way i can see for anybody to make a db movie good

People who use the term “true fan” are ignorant. Either you’re a fan or not, there is no such thing as a fake fan. And just because someone disagrees with you does not make them a “fake fan”. And no aliens in DB? Goku is an alien, Piccolo is an alien…Sure Goku’s identity isn’t revealed until DBZ and Piccolo was always viewed as a demon, but that does not excuse the fact that they are aliens. And it was pretty clear in the very first episode of DB that Goku was not a human.

I am fairly certain most people prefer an Asian cast due to DragonBall being a Japanese manga. Just like Superman being made in America, people would prefer him white. It is obvious the slanted eye brows is just an art design.

Honestly these people dont know how to write a damn script. Budget is important, but a waste. Taken was made with 2 million budget, i think 1 million but cant remember. My big fat greek wedding was made with less than a million budget. Students make better f***ing movies on youtube than this movie made. If they get someone commited to this series and watch, read, and understand it, then we might have something. Also planning a trilogy is breaking the worst rule ever. Matrix was made with no intention of 2nd or 3rd. Second part movies can have setups for third, but never start with the first. Theres exceptions but concidering this situation and someone already ruining it and losing a butt load, make a great first one so 2nd and 3rd have a bigger budget and more audience.

mk……let me put my 2 cents on this page. 1st yes fox skeet skeeted all over our beloved dragonball. 2nd yes they could make a good version of the movie….and should. they just need to watch every episode….now i dont mean skim through episodes watching bits here and there or watch it while on the phone or whatever will distract them from really taking in what is happening. like for example…..the source of what its all about (ki)…=strength. being so strong that goku can bring out his energy(ki) and shoot it at someone. example-kamehameha. NOT airbending. and yes they manage to screw up the story horribly but thats because they didnt watch the episodes like they should have….i mean if your into it…youd be like YEA!! i gotta make a kickass version of it!!…..but….if you dont have the resources and you know you cant make a movie the way you really want to…………..just dont do it… pretty simple.
